An Israeli airstrike on Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza, killed 87 people and left many trapped under rubble, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry. Israel has been intensifying its bombardment in the area as part of efforts to weaken Hamas fighters. The Israeli military claims it is targeting Hamas terror positions and trying to avoid civilian casualties, though many residential buildings were destroyed. The UN and humanitarian officials warn of worsening conditions for civilians, with aid access largely restricted. The conflict has already claimed over 42,600 lives in Gaza since October, while international calls for a ceasefire and humanitarian access continue to grow.
